The Vivah is the heart of a Hindu wedding, a sacred ceremony performed around a holy fire (Agni). As the fire witnesses the union, the bride and groom take seven vows (Saptapadi) together, each representing a promise to honor, love, and support each other throughout their lives.
During the ceremony, the priest chants Vedic mantras, while the couple performs various rituals, such as the Mangal Pheras, where they walk around the fire, symbolizing their journey together. Family and friends gather around to shower blessings, making this an emotional and spiritual highlight of the wedding.
What to wear:
Guests are encouraged to wear traditional Indian attire. Women can wear sarees or lehengas, while men can opt for sherwanis or kurtas. Bright, festive colors are recommended, though avoid pure white or black as they are generally reserved for somber occasions in Indian culture.
